En dat alles dankzij Comic Relief. Jawel, het Britse goede doel trommelt voor Red Nose Day de cast van Love Actually bijeen voor een speciale korte film, die als sequel van de romantische hitfilm uit 2003 wordt bestempeld.
Wie er zeker terugkeert in zijn of haar bekende rol? Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth... en ja, ook The Walking Dead-ster Andrew Lincoln. Lucia Moniz (Aurelia), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Sam), Olivia Olson (Joanna), Bill Nighy (Billy), Marcus Brigstocke (Mikey) en Rowan Atkinson (Rufus) hebben ook al toegezegd om weer in hun Love Actually-karakter te kruipen. Wat een feest!
Wel een kleine treurige noot: de vorig jaar overleden Alan Rickman zal de grote afwezige zijn in deze twee film. Hopelijk krijgen we een mooie ode te zien aan de acteur.
De originele schrijver en regisseur van Love Actually, Richard Curtis, zit eveneens achter de 'Red Nose Day Actually' shortfilm en laat 't verhaal vandaag de dag afspelen, dus veertien jaar na de originele film. Krijgen we eíndelijk te weten of het nog goed zit tussen de premier en zijn vloekende lief.
Richard Curtis laat weten over de sequel:
'Over the years I've enjoyed doing Red Nose Day specials on TV things I've worked on – Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley, and Mr Bean. It seemed like a fun idea this year to do a special sketch based on one of my films, since Red Nose Day is now in both the UK and America. I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do ten minutes to see what everyone is now up to.'
Curtis vervolgt:
'We've been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it'll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later. We hope to make something that'll be fun – very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day – and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows.'
